Colette Hawthorne Dress

I purchased some beautiful chambray at Fabrictopia in San Antonio while I was in Texas visiting my brother (I promise to post more about Fabrictopia later). Anyway, I knew I wanted a shirtdress out of it, but it sat in my stash for a few years.

With Spring coming, I decided I’d love to finally follow through. There are a lot of shirtdress patterns out there available now. I love the Alder shirtdress that I made last summer, but I wanted a sleeved-version that could be transitional for Spring.

After searching, I decided on the Colette Hawthorne dress. It’s a perfect cut for me, and I was able to get it with my Seamwork credits.

I basically didn’t make any changes to this pattern. I made a size 18, adding a little to the waist seams after making a muslin.  The next time I make this pattern, I will lower the bust darts a bit, but otherwise the fit was good.

I wanted a feminine touch, so I added a touch of lace to the collar from an old recycled tablecloth.

I also found these fun (!) buttons on Amazon.

This might become my favorite dress!
