About Me

So who is Dorothy’s Daughter?

According to the dictionary, the word creative means, “relating to or involving the imagination or original ideas, especially in the production of an artistic work.”  The word, and the process have always fascinated me.

I grew up in a family of creatives.  My father, a well-respected professional photographer taught me composition from the time I was five.  My mother (Dorothy) could sew– oh, could she sew!

She used to think she wasn’t creative.  However, many years of dresses, doll clothes and fabulous holiday tables later, I know that she was a true artist.

I’ve been working as a wedding and portrait photographer for 17 years, owning and operating Considering Lilies Photography.  I have been “Robert’s daughter” to the core.  I’ve won accolades and awards for my work and can “drive” a camera without thinking– like some people drive a car.  My photography business continues to be a very big part of who I am.

However, I am not only “Bob’s daughter;”  I am also “Dorothy’s daughter.”  I love to create things for my home, for my children and grandchildren.  I love to design my own apparel, and I love to sew!

I have a homeschool heart– after home-educating my own children, I am now enjoying giving support to my daughter as she homeschools three of my five grandchildren.  The others are tiny little boys.  I have always wanted to give back to the homeschool community, and I hope to share some things from my heart, plus ideas that will make your journey more fun!

I am also a Worship Leader, and love to praise God in song as well as other artistic ventures.  This past year, I finished a certification program through Mid-America Christian University, earning a certificate in Worship Arts and Leadership.

This blog will be a mash-up of all things creative.  There will be lots and lots of sewing, projects for the Silhouette Cameo, photography tips and tricks, homeschool support and ideas and other crafts.  My goal is to post twice per week.

On with the blog!
